Buckeye Lake Boating for Beginners Seminar

Buckeye Lake Boater Training is hosting a FREE Boating for Beginners seminar on Sunday April 14 from Noon to 3:00 pm. The class is designed for people who are new to boating or interested in buying a boat and would like information on the different types of boats available.

We will cover boating terminology, procedures, rules and regulations during the first half of the seminar, then we’ll take a break and resume with information on purchasing a boat. During the break we will have a demonstration on tying knots on a cleat and a dock post.

When we return from the break; the second half will include a description of boat types with horsepower recommendations, along with purchasing tips and budgeting for boating expenses. It’s helpful to know the different types of boats available when making your decision on the best type of boat for you! We’ll also discuss boat docks, storage, launch ramps and more.

Everything someone thinking about buying a boat should know before making a sizeable investment into boating. While this seminar is for anyone 16+ who is interested in learning about purchasing and operating a boat. The class is oriented towards beginners. • Captain and First Mate responsibilities
• License requirements & Courses available
• Safety requirements
• Navigational rules
• Docking procedures
• Launching procedures
• Anchoring your boat

• Questions then a break

During the break we will have a demonstration on tying knots on a cleat and post. For those who already own a boat, they are welcome to depart or stay for the second half of the seminar that focuses on items valuable to anyone considering buying a boat:

• Budgeting for boat expenses
• What’s the best type of boat for you
• Boat descriptions
• Best places to purchase a boat
• How to avoid getting scammed when you buy
• Docks/Trailers/Storage
